  All about Massage Therapy

The body has the ability to heal itself when there is no interference within the nervous system. My massage focuses on restoring proper body function so that optimal health & vitality can be achieved through this massage, which stimulates blood and fluid circulation.

Reflexology is the study of how the body is reflexed in the ear, foot, hands and eyes, which reveal how one's overall energy and health condition. With the Auriculodiagnosis or the Iridology method, I can see where each of my client's deficiencies are and then involve techniques based in reflexology.

This massage is a safe, effective and natural approach to obtain a state of optimum health. The massage philosophy recognizes that there is an internal wisdom, “innate intelligence,” within each of us that creates, develops and maintains our existence and regulates our state of health. This innate wisdom is housed within the brain and vertebral column and communicates with all parts of our body.

The nervous system sends messages from our brains to every cell, tissue, and organ in our body. When a vertebra in the spinal column misaligns due to a trauma, toxins, or thought, it causes interference in the nervous system. The message it is intending to send no longer reaches the designated body part which results in both structural and energy problems in the body’s natural functioning. When the spinal vertebra is repositioned and proper nerve flow is regained, these problems and conditions can now heal.

Massage techniques:

Massage Therapy is a combination of techniques such as stroking, kneading, friction, knuckling, pressuring, and percussion may have a wide range of therapeutic effects.  One of the many effects is a relaxing of tense muscles that  are causing sluggish circulation by constricting the body’s blood vessels.  Relaxing those muscles allows blood to circulate more freely and carry oxygen and nutrients throughout the body.  Stimulating circulation can also help normalize blood pressure

Deep Tissue Massage  uses slow strokes, direct pressure, and friction to release chronic patterns of muscles tension.  Movements often flow across the grain of the muscles and employ fingers, thumbs, or elbows.  It involves greater pressure and deeper muscle layers than Swedish massage.  Deep tissue techniques focus on working all the layers of muscle involved in a problem area.

Swedish Massage, a soothing, full-body massage stimulates circulation, calm the nervous system, relax tight, sore muscles, enhance sleep and decrease stress and anxiety.

Sports Massage  employs techniques similar to Swedish and deep tissue massage that are adapted to the specific needs of athletes.

Shiatsu  (Japanese technique)  An old form of natural healing used to balance energy in the body and to maintain homeostasis. This technique improves health states and focuses on internal bodily environment, stimulating acupunctural points.

Acupressure (Chinese technique) Procedure applying firm pressure to acupuncture points/sites for the inhibition of pain or spasm.

Reflexology  Foot reflexology works on the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet which correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body. Reflexology is a gentle pressure on these reflex areas to: relieve stress and tension, improve blood supply and promote the unblocking of nerve impulses, help the body normalize overactive and under active glands and/or organs.

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy  A gentle, slow and rhythmic massage technique, lymphatic drainage accelerates the flow of lymph, helping to rid the body of toxins and waste materials.  It promotes balance  of the body’s internal chemistry, purifies and regenerates tissue, helps to normalize the functions of  organs and enhance the function of the immune system.

CranioSacral Therapy   The craniosacral system  is intimately related to the function of the nervous system ( cranium, spine and pelvis), related fascia and other systems.  Induction of momentary “still points” in the rhythmical impulse is an effective technique of mobilizing the craniosacral systems inherent self-correcting abilities,  which in turn can have profound beneficial effects throughout the body.

Reiki (Energy Healing)  Reiki is a gentle, noninvasive, yet powerful "laying on of hands" healing technique that enables the practitioner to channel healing energy to the recipient. The Japanese word REIKI (ray-key) means Guided Universal Life Force Energy. A REIKI treatment is a holistic experience that will effect changes within the body, mind, and emotions. It creates many beneficial effects including feelings of peace, security, happiness, and well-being. It can be used to helping to restore vital energy levels, heal illness and ease discomfort. It has also been widely used to successfully aid the body and mind in quick and easy recovery.

 All about Acupuncture

Acupuncture balances the body's “Qi" or vital force, to optimize its flow. Thin stainless steel disposable needles are inserted into specific points along the body's energetic pathways or meridians. Most people find the treatments relaxing and energizing.

Acupuncture originated in China over 3,000 years ago and is presently used as a primary health care modality throughout the world. Thin, sterile, disposable, stainless steel needles are used to direct and stimulate energy flow (known as Qi) to create balance in one's natural energetic patterns. Traditional Chinese medicine views disease as the result of an imbalance or blockage in the body's natural energy flow. Such imbalances manifest in physical, emotional, and psychosomatic stress-related disorders. By stimulating specific points on the body, acupuncture disperses blockages in the energy flow, allowing the body/mind/spirit to function optimally, enhancing physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Also included in traditional therapies are nutritional and lifestyle assessments, as well as suggestions for supportive herbal or homeopathic remedies, Oriental massage techniques, and moxibustion (technique of stimulating acupuncture points with heat). Traditional Chinese Medicine recognizes that aches, pains, and other disease conditions are only symptoms of a deeper, underlying imbalance and takes the whole person into account (not just the symptoms) in developing individualized treatment plans.
